![]() ![]() It made interacting with her quite the mental trial if you've ever tried to stop contextualizing something you're looking at, you'll know it's damn near impossible to manage. At the same time, the second I began to think of the new trait, it would be gone and replaced by another. I could think that she was thin, and she would be curvaceous. I could think that she was tall, and she would be short. I mean every time I tried to apply an adjective to her, her appearance would shift so that it no longer applied. I don't mean that in a flowery, "too beautiful for words" way. ![]() If it did, I lived nowhere near Shibuya, and in any case, I was not part of the cadre of departed spirits who were the bar's ordinary clientele, nor was the woman behind the counter, who smiled at me in a way that set my teeth on edge, like I was something small and furry that found itself suddenly placed in front of a predator with a great number of very sharp teeth. No such place existed in the real world, to my knowledge. An array of modern furniture was scattered about the place, managing to look simultaneously incredibly expensive and incredibly uncomfortable, and there wasn't a window or door to be seen in the entire place a sealed room one could only enter by way of special abilities, safeguarded entirely from normal people by obscurity and difficulty of access. The bar was dimly lit, an ethereal light coming from the fish tanks below my feet, live koi happily swimming to and fro beneath the thick glass flooring. ![]() Oh, I knew the scenery, pulled as it was from a video game I'd enjoyed during high school. I could tell right away that this wasn't any normal dream, mind you. It began, more specifically, with a dream. I know it began long before I was even the ghost of a thought in someone's head, but my part in it, at least, began on the third of August. Especially when I haven't got the slightest idea what in the hell the actual beginning to the story is. Too tongue in cheek? Alright, I'll be honest with you, I just like having an excuse to quote Adams. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.
